End Of Year!

Are you looking forward to relaxing this festive season? If you are like me, I always look forward to some much-needed rest after a busy year.

This year has gone by in a flash. More so than any other year. Most of my clients did not start this year feeling rested and recharged, and then went on to start the new year like a greyhound straight out of the gate.

Because of the relentless ambush of the previous two years, most of us staggered into the new year in 2021 exhausted, depleted and operating on autopilot.

Many of us pulled ourselves into 2022 still carrying some disbelief, shock, sorrow, stress, anxiety and the memories of an unimaginable new way of life.

This was a year of speed and whirlwind from the beginning. Whether we have consciously realised it or not, this year bought more stress for many of us as well as, the determination to achieve goals in all areas of our lives after being held back for the last two years.

We kept ourselves busy and tried to do our part to rebuild the world as we once knew it. We perhaps tried to fix what had been broken, and be more involved. Maybe we did this to try and regain control of our lives or perhaps we were simply keeping busy to wipe away the traumatic memories and heal our wounds. Physically and emotionally.

Unfortunately, being busy rather than ‘being’ does not bring us peace of mind does not work that way.

And trying to rebuild “normal” while bolting forward at top speed we may have disregarded the fact that for two years our fight-or-flight response has been operating on full alert. I know I had. This has left us feeling absolutely spent! Not an uncommon side effect of herding storms or cats.

So, I want to remind you; if you feel this way, you are not alone! Take a step back, and consciously practice being still for a while. Take the dog for a walk, meet a friend for coffee or if you are like me, hit the slopes.

You are still going strong despite this year’s best efforts to stop you. Even on the days, you find yourself face down in the snow!

Be kind to yourself and the people around you. Everyone needs some extra kindness right now. In some way or another, we are all carrying invisible fragile signs on our heads as we make it to the finish line that is 2022.

So…. take good care of you for me and I’ll do the same,

Izzy
