Does Your Hockey Mental Energy Need A Boost?

Each of the NHL Players I've worked with will tell you, practice after practice, game after game, it can be hard to stay fully focused and energized mentally.

When I went on a 5-week intensive technical ski training camp, by the 6th day of 8-hour training per day that week, my mental energy needed a boost.

Maybe it's the same for you during a long season.

In hockey, like skiing, having a great positive mental energy attracts new opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.

So, how do we boost ourselves when our reserves are lagging?

  • When we focus on our love of our sport, our mental energy rises.
  • When we get grateful to all those who have helped us on the way, our mental energy rises.
  • When we start to get enthusiastic about an upcoming skills day or day in the moguls (my fave!), our mental energy rises!
  • When we find a way to help others and it feels good, our mental energy rises!

Letting your joy, your enthusiasm, and your passion for the game show through brings its own mental rewards.

TIP: Focus on your love for the sport and let that enjoyment shine through at every practice and every game. It will help you to develop a robust foundation for your Hockey Confidence.
