The days are getting longer, we’re told.
This announcement arrives every late January with great confidence, usually from someone who has not tried to function before 10am.

Yes. Astronomically. Technically.
And yet my body and perhaps yours too— clutching something warm and staring into the middle distance — would like it known it is not yet accepting feedback.

Late January and February are that awkward phase where optimism has arrived early, but biology is still on the platform waving politely. The tunnel is long. The light is more decorative tea candle than beacon.

Bodies don’t run on calendars. They run on accumulated winter: low light, cold, viruses, and an immune system that’s been on duty since October without so much as a biscuit.

So if February feels heavy, beige, and faintly uphill — congratulations. Nothing is wrong with you. You’re not behind. You’re just finishing winter.

Spring will arrive quietly.
Until then: lower pressures, earlier nights, more soup.

The light is coming.
Your nervous system just prefers a proper handover.

Happiness Iz … being kind to your own mind.. . and a bowl of hot soup.

With you,
Isabelle.
